The Mothers Day Banquet is a project of the Lions Club and held in the Morland
Fire Station with ample seating and no waiting in long lines to be seated.
Dinner is served from 11:00 a.m till 2:00 p.m. The meal is an "all
you can eat buffet" of home
cooked foods. We have two meats, mashed potatos & gravy, hot rolls, 2
vegetables, more salads than you can sample, dessert, ice tea and coffee.
It's an "old fashioned barn raisin' type meal" where everyone is welcome.
Memorial Day Weekend
The Memorial Day Weekend is "Old Fashioned Fun" where everyone can get
involved or just observe. "Ramblin Andy's Western Band" plays in the
afternoon at the local fire station where there's plenty of room to "shake a
leg" when the urge hits. There's turtle races, gunny sack races and other
kid games in the City Park.
The ball tournments begin mid mornings on Sunday and Monday and run as long
as necessary depending on the number of teams entered. The consignment
auction starts at 12:00 noon and has a better variety of items than any Big
City flea market. You can find venders selling beer brats, ice cream,
hamburgers, etc., or have a Priarie Burger at Prairie Junction.
And, guess what, there is no admission charge!
The United Methodist Lord's Acre Auction and Supper is
an " all you can eat buffet" of home cooked foods.
Here again we have 2 meats, potatos, gravy, rolls, salads, and pie, tea and
coffee. (Soul food for the hungry pheasant hunter as it is the first weekend
of pheasant season.) Handmade toys, Christmas decorations, baked goods,
quilts, crocheted items, afghans and a whole selection of surprises are
auctioned after the meal. The meal and auction are held in the Church
basement the 2nd Saturday in November beginning at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is
warmly welcomed.
