  Mulvane is located on the county line between Sumner, [SU] and Sedgwick, [SG] counties, five miles west of the corner of Sumner, Sedgwick, Butler, Cowley Counties. the city was founded in 1879 as a railroad/agricultural community and was incorporated as a city of the third class in 1883. The local government follows the form of Mayor/Council and serves a population of 5,000 people. Mulvane is a progessive city, with officials and citizenry alike, donating their time for the betterment of the community.

Mulvane Depot Museum, Mulvane, KS The Mulvane Depot Museum, located at the west end of Main Street, houses community historical information dating back to the 1800s. With a rich tradition of railroading, the museum is the old train depot. The City Of The Valley, a book written about the history of Mulvane, was completed in 1977.

Wichita is located within a 15-minute drive from Mulvane, where a variety of "big town" shopping and entertainment is available. Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport is within a 30-minute drive. McConnell Air Force Base is within a 10-minute drive. Mulvane offers the best of both worlds-small community living and big city convenience near by.
