New City Hall In The Works

The Sabetha City Hall was destroyed in the tornado of June 13, 1998.

A new city hall has been designed by Architect Brian Ball (who grew up in Sabetha), with  Gastinger Walker Harden Architects

The City Commission recently approved his design and it was  let for bids.  The commission awarded the contract to Thieme Construction of Sabetha at the regular meeting on July 17th.  Thieme had the low bid of $970,000 which was under the amount budgeted of $1,050,000.  He will be using a number of local sub-contractors.

On July 24th the Commission approved the final contract, which was signed by Dave Thieme and Mayor Norm Schmitt.  This was followed by a ground breaking ceremony at the site.

Construction began on August 1.
