Sabetha Community Hospital, Inc., is a 27 bed facility providing acute care including obstetrics, skilled care, and a broad range of outpatient services.  The hospital has served the community since 1912.  Original ownership of the hospital was a private physician, then by the Sisters of Saint Joseph.  The hospital is currently leased to Sabetha Community Hospital, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, which sub-leases to Great Plains Health Alliance.  Great Plains is a multi-hospital management firm with offices located in Phillipsburg and Wichita, Kansas.

The hospital employees 100 persons and has an annual payroll of $2,500,000.

The hospital and medical staff maintain a working relationship with the closest tertiary care centers, so  that transfers of complicated cases are handled smoothly.   Transfers can be accomplished by ambulance or helicopter.

Sabetha Community Hospital has developed and uses many specialty services out of the Topeka area.  Physicians specializing in Urology, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Allergies, and Podiatry are available at clinics each month.  The general surgeons that do surgery and make rounds each day reside in Hiawatha.  Mobile Diagnostic Services that are available include MRI and Osteoporosis Screening, CT and Nuclear Medicine.   Specialized services in-house include Radiology, Audiology, Speech Pathology, Laboratory, Echocardiography, Ultrasound, non-invasive Vascular testing, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Mammography.

The hospital maintains an outreach office for KANZA Mental Health and Guidance Center, Hiawatha.  The office is staffed two days per week.  The availability of Mental Health Services helps to complete the Primary Health Care Services of the hospital, medical staff and employees provide to the community.
