Imagine... a town where you can still sit on the front porch, walk down tree lined streets, and know your neighbors.

Imagine... Towanda... A peaceful town nestled in the pleasant valley of the Whitewater River, on the edge of the Flint Hills in between the lights of several larger towns, but out of the rush, and bustle of those large cities.

Towanda is where people can escape from it all, and come home to the nostalgia of small town living at its best. Towanda maintains the friendliness and attitude which appeals to families and businesses alike. Towanda is reaching back to maintain the charm of our nations past, and reaching forward to offer conveniences that today's families need.

Towanda has a city Library, Historical Museum, several city parks, swimming pool, and many locally owned restaurants and businesses. Not far away, you can find excellent areas for fishing, hunting, golfing, picnicking, camping, hiking, boating, and biking.

The town boasts having some of the finest schools and teachers in the state. Part of USD 375, Towanda has three attendance centers, a brand new K-3 facility, A 4-6 learning center, And a 9-12 full service High School, with grades 7-8 in nearby Benton at a brand new facility. "The Mission of Circle USD 375 in partnership with our communities, is to educate all students to be responsible, productive citizens in a changing world." Only minutes from Towanda, rounding out the scholastic field, is Butler County Community College. It is one of the largest community colleges in Kansas, "providing a quality education today for opportunities tomorrow"

Towanda has an ideal location outside of 3 major cities, Wichita, a city of over 300,000, El Dorado and Augusta, all within a short drive. Being so conveniently located enables Towanda's citizens to take advantage of the wide range of employment opportunities available in these cities.

Be it in the friendly wave, or cheerful smile, you will know you have come home. So come on over and see us. We'll mix up a batch of down home hospitality, community pride, and small town atmosphere. Sample the spirit of a by-gone era. Welcome to Towanda!!
